Zoo Date 2…

So we attended Edinburgh Zoo’s ‘Summer Nights’ last night. (It’s an adult only event, after normal opening hours, and there’s street food trucks and alcohol tents scattered around the zoo.) Unfortunately the weather wasn’t quite as kind as last year; it was colder, cloudier and windier and I even had to walk around with a jacket on. It was still a super night, it’s great just to walk around the zoo without getting stampeded by kids, it’s a lot quieter, and it’s nice to be able to have (for example) an alcoholic bubble tea whilst munching a Nutella crepe!

Anyway, it was important that my nails were matching the event so I took inspiration from the poster. You’re not allowed to dress up or wear face paint in case you scare the animals (even though you can get your face painted at the zoo for a price…) but I decided that my eye make-up could be totally tigress too!

Zoo date…

So tonight, we’re off to the zoo. Visiting the zoo at night sounds strange doesn’t it, but Edinburgh Zoo has been opening in the evening for a few ‘adults only’ nights . I’ve never been to one before, but by the sounds of it I think we’ll enjoy it – there’s street food stalls, face painting, fossil digs (in conjunction with their dinosaurs exhibit), beer tents, cupcake stands, and more! The best part of it of course being there’s not going to be any children. I have another design on my fingers right now that I wasn’t ready to remove, but I couldn’t resist painting animal themed nails for it!

It’s super tricky to paint your own toes, give it a go I dare you. My ‘tiger’ turned out to look like a rather large cat, and my ‘zebras’ nose spiraled out of control so ended up disproportionately large, but they’re cute in a way!

(p.s sorry for all those people who hate feet/toes! It seems like I’ve been posting a lot of toe nail designs lately….)

White Tiger…

So I was going to call this post ‘Snow Tiger’ which would seem like an obvious choice seeing as there are ‘Snow Leopards’. But there’s no such thing as a ‘Snow Tiger’, only white versions of tiger species such as the Bengal. So there you go! This design took ages to dry as I layered glitter on top of glitter on top of glitter until my nails were starting to look way to thick. (I don’t think the bottom coats will ever truly dry.) Then by that point I didn’t want to paint anymore so opted for some water decals, I still love how easy and effective they are.

Tiger Teal…

So my mum and I went to Blackpool for a day trip. We obviously needed to have our nails painted, so I let my mum chose the colours to mix things up. I really liked how her nails turned out, but I didn’t really like mine – they reminded me too much of the Cancer Research logo (which wouldn’t be a problem if I was trying to raise awareness for the charity but). I also let her name them which was hilarious, she shouted about a million different ideas at me, some were absolute stoaters, before  settling on ‘Teal Tiger’ and, ready for this, ‘Blue Candy Burst’ for mine. Whaaat?…

So I’m using two more of my new Barry M polishes – matte polish ‘crush’ and textured polish ‘princess’. (I actually wanted to call the post something like ‘Crushed Princess’ but thought that was a bit sick) I’ve not done a print in a while and thought these two would work well together as tiger. I think they create an interesting contrast with each other.

I had to put a pink base coat on (Barry M – ‘Peach Melba’) as the textures are quite pale/sheer and would probably need a lot of coats to actually show their bottle colour. And as always, the glitter is so much nicer in reality.

Neon Tiger…

I’m off to the zoo today for my boyfriends birthday so of course my nails had to be something animal related! I’m into neons just now (who isn’t) and sponging so combined them both, and decided on a tiger/zebra print. You can’t see it very well in the photos, but it’s actually yellow and green sponged together.

Here’s the sponging – looks kind of like that textured nail polish?
