So this is another one from the fail folder. I’m getting worried that maybe I just can’t paint anything decent anymore, I suppose I’ve not had much practice lately so can I put it down to that?
I loved how the sponged base turned out, it had so much potential to be maybe become an ocean or a galaxy themed design – however I just seemed to freak out and add all that tack. What was a thinking…
So I created two more polishes using my supplies from Cosmic Glows, a duo called ‘Golden Romance’ – pretty gushy right. Fortunately ‘Golden’ can be worn pretty much any time of the year, whereas ‘Romance’ has a particularly romantic theme but hey.
To create such a full look and a good coating of glitter, I sponged them on in layers: 4 in total – golden, romance, golden, romance and top coated in-between.
Look at this macro shot, they’re cool to do right? I see them a lot on Instagram.
I then added some roses for some extra lovey-doveyness. Please excuse my index finger it’s still injured, and I unfortunately managed to smudge the false nail because I had no patience to wait until it was dry when I was sticking it to my own nail.

So I hardly ever paint roses, because I just can’t. They always end up looking weird but fortunately I know other people have issues with them too, which makes me feel a whole heap better (even if that is kinda mean). I wasn’t going for hyper-realism when I painted these so I think I can get away with them!
So goodness knows what possessed me to mix these two colours together. I think I like the peach and the large glitter together, I think, but with the fine glitter and the roses added – nope no thanks! I know technically the challenge ended yesterday but I’m still playing catch-up eeek!
So I attended my cousins wedding reception at the weekend. I went to the hassle of making my own fascinator and necklace (as if I could really call it ‘hassle’ – I love crafting things!) I decided doves and roses were pretty wedding related! As well as pearls and gems added in for extra bling.
The Necklace – I made every single rose (bar two – my mum made the huge one, and my brother made one as he wanted to try it out), meaning I personally hand-made 70 roses. It was honestly so time consuming. They are made from various colours/blends of fimo clay as I love working with it because it doesn’t really dry out in your hands or set until you bake it. I glue-gunned them onto a piece of felt, added another dove and some pearls/gems to link in with my fascinator and then added the chain. I am most certainly going to wear it again, I think it’s pretty.
The Nails – So yet again, to link in with my theme I decided roses and gems. I’ve not really one for painting flowers on my nails, and I’ve never painted this style of rose before. I’m not 100% sure what I make of them. Too messy, too much? The jury is still out.
Myself – I always feel a bit embarrassed posting photos of myself, which is why I’ve only done it maybe twice… But I wanted to show you the whole thing. I was wearing a black, lace dress. I don’t actually wear any face make-up ever, like foundation or anything as I find it kinda ikky, but I do like wearing eye make-up. I added gems, you guessed it, to link them in with my theme!
