So we went to the Megazone at the weekend (a local laser tag center that’s been open for seriously years), and I felt inspired to paint my nails for it. I went for neon colours just like the lasers, and I also topped the lines with a glow in the dark polish for a bit of fun seeing as the games take place in the dark. I’ve never used it before and the results weren’t even worth photographing – it would have been a photo of darkness. But I am willing to try it again, I think with a few coats over the whole nail you might be able to see it. Even though the design was inspired by lasers, I kinda see them as neon sprinkles!
So for new years, I fancied wearing something black and silver and gold (who didn’t!) but instead decided to go for something at the opposite end of the spectrum. Neon Colours! Wooo! I didn’t have enough time to do anything amazing, so I paired up the colours with some cool zig-zag nail wraps. Again, this is a design that was great for using up odd ends of left-over wraps. These ones were out of ‘Savers’ – they’re quite thick but very sticky and have managed to stay on my nails for the whole night and over night (which is when they tend to slide off or get all fluffy or tear or something. You gals know how nail wraps are sometimes!). They were £1, so I’d say worth it!
I was lazy with my gradient, I just painted on top of the other colour. It didn’t turn out that bad, but you can see where my brush bristles have dragged the colour.
My black nail varnish is really gloopy at the moment and I haven’t had a chance to replace it. Hence why I ended up using purple, I think it makes a nice alternative and gives it a more summery feel. (Also kind of like Easter eggs?)
The top polish (a limited ‘retro’ edition ‘Tainted Love’ by Barry M) is really quite cool – I’ve only used it once before I think. It gives different looks in different lighting – dark blue, then purpley, and quite metalic looking sometimes. Really quite nice! I think it gives a lovely contrast to the neon green too.
I really liked the idea of mixing animal prints on one designs, but I really didn’t like the results. I just think it looks ugly, maybe the colour combination is wrong? And the ratio of leopard to zebra? Somethings just not nice about it, but never mind! I shall be trying the design again as I wouldn’t want to write it off as a complete failure.
I saw this design a while ago and have eventually got round to trying it. Not quite like the original, but at least I gave it my own twist?… I also changed the lines for my left nails; my right hand just doesn’t have the skill to go diagonal yet, it still struggles with straight lines!
