Spider Swap…

So more than a few weeks back, myself and Dani from Stormysway decided to do a mani swap. Unfortunately she’s had a crappy time, and even though she said she was ‘back’ a fortnight ago she isn’t really ‘back’ so I am a little concerned. I thought it might be nice to post my re-creation of her super awesome spiders, to take any extra pressure that she might be feeling to reciprocate the swap or any feelings that she might have of letting me down.
I chose this one of hers because  I just love the ombre base. It was also around Halloween time when it was suggested so the spider design seemed like the obvious go to. I hope I’ve done it justice!

SNail Art…

So I know people can’t stand them, but I think snails are pretty darn cute. I couldn’t believe when I saw this piece of jewelry in TKMaxx and just had to have it. Once home, I began to research the designer ‘Bill Skinner’ and I’ve been in love with the stuff ever since – the pieces are so quirky and beautiful.

At the weekend I was attending a ‘see you later’ party – a friend is moving to NZ for around 8 months but coming back so not quite a ‘goodbye’ party. I decided to wear an orange dress with a gold zip and thought my snail was the perfect partner for it! Of course, because I like my attire and dress to match the snail was a must to be featured on my nails.

Bright Buddha…

So I’ve not painted my mums nails for ages, due to the fact they were in such a state. I don’t now what she’s been doing differently but today there was actually a bit of growth to work with. She decided to go for an orange holo base (which was a bit of a surprise as she usually picks black or silver) and chose to paired it with a buddha stamping plate. Something simple, but nice enough.

Buddah Accent
The more eagle eyed of you will notice I managed to warp the image a bit on her thumbnails and that there’s actually a bit of black missing, it’s like a game of spot the difference. I think without the two being together for comparison, I get away with it.

Raccoon…

So I like adjusting my home decor according to the seasons; fresh and bold colours for Summer and Spring, warm oranges and harvest colours for Autumn, and then of-course (the most fun in my opinion) Christmas. I took tonight’s inspiration from my teasel raccoon, isn’t he just the cutest! And I say ‘inspiration’ but I actually just copied it…

The Orange Holographic Polish* is from BornPrettyStore and I actually reviewed it just last week so I was obviously very impressed by it to have turned to using it again, although it is unlike any other polish I own so maybe that’s why. If you’re interested to find out how it fared you can read the review here.

On another note. You may, or may not, have notice I’ve been rather absent lately mainly due to two factors – a busy schedule (it’s a known fact that everything always happens at once after months of nothing), and a horrific finger injury which actually physically disabled me from bending it in to my usual ‘pose’. You can still see the aftermath, but hopefully it doesn’t look too repulsive. Please accept my apologies!

BornPrettyStore: Holographic Polish…

So before today I  was actually a holographic polish virgin! Therefore I was super excited to try the Orange Holographic Polish* that BornPrettyStore sent me to review.

BPSHolo
It’s so pretty even in the bottle! I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen a holo polish in the flesh so I found myself twisting the bottle about to see what colours the light would bring up. It’s amazes me still that an orange polish can include blues and greens.

I didn’t really know what the best way to apply it was. The polish seemed pretty thick so I went for the option of painting straight on to my nails with a clear base coat. As you can see with one coat the colour is still a bit transparent but you could totally get away with wearing it out. I genuinely believe it’s only ourselves (nail bloggers and the like) that look this closely at our nails – no one in the normal world zooms in this closely to inspect and critique our nails.

With two coats the nail polish is completely opaque, and look how super vibrant it is! (So this is where I’m going to sound like a child, but as I said, it’s my first holo) I just love the way it shimmers and changes, and all the little sparkles it has without actually being glitter.

Out of curiosity I painted my thumb with an orange base colour and then painted one coat of the holo polish on top. It’s even brighter, which only makes sense I suppose, but it depends what shade you’re aiming for. I’d say with just holo alone it has a more Autumnal tone, but with the orange base coat it has a more Halloween Orange.

I felt that the photos weren’t showing it off to it’s full potential so I took a short recording of it, this way you can see how beautiful it actually is! (The video was shot on my phone, so it’s not the best quality.) If you place an order with BornPrettyStore, remember to use my code ‘AZYW10’ to get 10% off all your full priced items.
