Essential Nails Design 11…

So I really enjoyed doing this design! It’s called ‘stained glass’ and I could have sat and practiced this one all day, but I feel like I understood it pretty quick. It’s actually something I can see myself wearing – a few of the other designs are a little, dare I say, old-fashioned?

Marlin Fishing…

So these images are from a large, rectangular stamping plate I bought waaaay back in August last year, and this is the first time I’ve decided to use it. How crazy is that?! (Or rather disgusting, I mean surely that’s a sign that I have far too many nail art items but…)

I used loose glitter to create the blue/silver ombre: I regretted that decision after only the first nail as there was immediately glitter everywhere. For the images I used the reverse stamping technique with my clear, squishy stamper.

Essential Nails Design #10…

So this design was a total pain in the butt! One of the points you can get marked down for was glitter being present in the black polish, it happened like 3 times out of the 8 when I top coated. There was also fluff everywhere for no apparent reason. It wasn’t off the towel as I make sure to use well washed ones seeing as newer ones do lose fluff, but I wondered if dust particles were just more noticeable because the black was so glossy. (I mean you can see my finger print grease on some of them, that’s extreme…). Another point you can lose marks on is the smile line, fortunately I feel none of mine are too straight but what is clear to see that some of them are uneven – something for me to work on. That’s what’s great about doing a comparison line up I think!

Holly Wreaths…

So I don’t feel ‘Christmassy’, even though there’s only like 4 days to go. I’ve wrapped all the presents, toured the Christmas markets, planned Christmas dinner but still – I’m just not feeling it. The weather’s been too mild and wet lately and I think it’s throwing me off, where’s the freezing cold and ice?!

Because it’s not felt ‘right’, I’ve been neglecting my Christmas nail art. I hope these glittery holly wreaths can make up for it, but I still feel like I’m trying to falsely celebrate Christmas in September or something. Annoyingly I managed to mess up my ring finger and my thumb came out the best, urgh.

BornPrettyStore: Colourful Diamond Glitter…

So I think glitter placement is a must do nail design for this time of year – it just screams ‘festive night out’ to me. Although after wearing them for a few days, it’s actually starting to scream ‘any day or night will do as it’s totally fabulous to wear’.

DiamondGlitterGradientPink
This tub of ‘Diamond Glitter‘* was sent to me by BornPrettyStore. It’s absolutely jam packed with the stuff and I advise care upon opening. I had a little look at all the different colours included (blues, pinks, gold, black, silver) and thought it would be perfect to a pink gradient and a blue gradient with them.

ColourfulDiamondGlitter
That tub looks like hell to sift through for the specific colours, but I used my life changing picker gel that I bought a few months ago. (Look how much of it I still have left, you only need a tiny amount and its very ‘reusable’ – I just take it off the toothpick, squidge it around a bit and it’s good to go again!) It makes the job so much easier. I tip the tub out, use the picker in one hand and a normal toothpick in the opposite: the picker picks up the glitter/gem and the toothpick in your other hand helps remove it from the gel.

So after painting a base coat and applying some slow drying top coat, it’s now time to stick on some of the glitter! Do one nail at a time, obviously, and I use my picker gel for this too. Because it’s malleable you can get it to a really fine point making the small shapes easy to pick up. All I can say is wowza – look at that glittery goodness! (If you’re not following me on Instagram then you should be as I’ll soon be posting videos of just how shiny they are.)

I’m not the neatest as these kind of placements clearly, I mean they look fine until you take a close up picture like this and you notice all the squint ones… Below you can see a photo with the flash on, weirdly the light pink is coming up gold and the whole colour scheme looks a lot uglier. Fortunately the photos without the flash have been dead true with showing up the real colours.

I made sure to double top coat them to seal them all in. No one wants catchy nails *shudders*. Although the diamonds are small enough to almost curve around your nail. I photographed my ring finger as, along with my pinky, it’s my most curved nail meaning that if they were to stick up it would certainly be on that nail – but they don’t!

FlatViewDiamondGlitter
The colours included in the tub work fantastically together, as here’s another gradient except in blue. This one was a little trickier to photograph, as the grey looking ones are actually brilliant silver.  If I’m being honest, I think I prefer the blue. Maybe because it’s winter just now or maybe it’s because I’m not really a ‘pink’ girl. Which do you prefer?

Remember the Diamond Glitter doesn’t have to be used like this, if you click on the link and go to ‘customer images’ there’s a heap of photos to help inspire you (the same with any item from BornPrettyStore actually). I’ve sometimes found it handy for things that I’ve liked the look of but had no idea what to do with them.

Right now, 27/11/2015, you would be able to get the glitter for $1.34 as it’s on sale. (Remember postage is free.) If you order products that are not on sale, you can use my code ‘AZYW10’ to get 10% off.

Green Geodes…

So I’ve wanted to paint geode nails for ages, but the fear of messing them up got to me . I had to bite the bullet today though as it was bugging me that I’ve been seeing them everywhere and they seem like such a cool design to do. They’re definitely not the nicest but they’ve got the feel of geodes right? I’d like to try them again, obviously in a different colour next time round – maybe a blue or a purple.

Glitter Puss…

So it’s Autumn. There’s no denying it or avoiding it as our house faces a woods and the leaves on the trees are starting to turn. With this realization I felt it was time to get some browns out, so I did it with a brown glitter ombre topped haphazardly with leopard print nail foil* (A11) from BornPrettyStore – which is currently on sale at the moment, 14th September, at only $0.99!

She Sells Sea Shells…

So do you ever get one of those designs where you think ‘if only hadn’t put that other shell on, or positioned it in a slightly different way’… This is exactly one of those design, the long trumpet shell on my middle finger is just wrong and it’s bugging me.

I created a sponged base, then reverse stamped the shells, added individual specks of gold glitter using my thin brush and viola! And I really do love the design over all, I think it’s really pretty and I keep looking at it, but that trumpet shell….

OMD3 – Day 20 Jewels…

So I loved this design! It’s so not me, but I enjoyed it so much.

I used a BornPrettyStore NFC White LED chip, meaning the bling blinged when my hand was holding my phone, neat huh! I’ve used a blue LED before here. If you order from BornPrettyStore, use my code ‘AZYW10’ to get 10% off full priced items at the check-out.

OMD3 – Day 7 Glittery…

So glitter is just amazing! There was so many glittery things that I could have put on my nails – sequins, loose glitter, glitter polish, charms BUT I went for a loose glitter ombre. Even though it was pink (I’m not really one of those ‘pink girls’) I really liked having it on, I was so reluctant to take it off, insert sad face.

(I could not get a good picture however, so please excuse an out of focus pinky and super cropped photo.)
