So Jynx started off a little controversial as originally she was a ‘curvy’ female figure, with big lips and a black face – it was seen as a little offensive due to the resemblance to a ‘golliwog’ doll. So her face was turned to a purple colour, and that’s the colour I decided to paint with.
So it’s not just me that found this guy totally unsettling right? I mean I don’t even have a phobia of dolls or clowns or anything like that, but his whole appearance is just really displeasing. I certainly wouldn’t want him in my party.
So these were really fun to paint, I knew how I wanted to paint them from the get go. Of-course in ‘reality’ Goldeen would never be able to be kept in a bowl (it actually warns against it on Bulbapedia), but I reckon a pond full of Seaking would look beautiful!
So I almost sort of forgot about the existence of Horsea and Seadra, they’re pretty darn cute though right!
So if you’re all like ‘hey wait a minute, that looks nothing like Kangaskhan!’, then you’ve obviously not seen the Mega EX trading card for it. That is where I took my inspiration from. I decided to go against all the purple lightening etc because I just cannot paint such small detail, and I’m afraid the writing is just vaguely copied so I do apologise if I’ve now accidentally swore at you or something.
So my Tangela nail art turned out a lot better than last weeks. I took inspiration from the original trading card artwork, and I’m super happy with how it turned out!
So let’s move swiftly on from Chansey as she was a bit of a nail fail…
So, sticking to my ‘goals’ for this year, I’m continuing with my Pokemon Theme Challenge. Koffing and Weezing were both quite easy, I mean purple spheres with eyes? The most fun I had was creating the background ‘smog’; I used three different polishes (excuding the 2 base colours) and sponged them on in layers. I think it looks really effective!
So, eh, yeah remember my pokemon challenge?…. I didn’t think you would. But anyway, continuing on with it I present to you 106 Hitmonlee and 107 Hitmonchan. Even though they’re not related, I saw them as close enough to pair them together in one post. I suppose I was a little inspired by the “who’s that pokemon?” game you got in the episodes.
So I’m not over the moon with these. I was putting them off for ages – all of the ideas I drew for them looked a bit silly and clumsy. I know I could have painted them better but there’s no time to re-do them. The challenge must go on!
