Quick Chicks…

So if anyone doens’t know, it’s easter on Sunday and so far I have produced zero themed nails for it – whoops! Even though ‘Easter’ is a religious festival, for me it’s more about spring being in full flight. So I’ve went for some Easter chicks. These guys in particular were actually inspired by the little chicks from the game ‘Harvest Moon’. If you’ve played any of the games, you’re hopefully seeing it. They were quickly and simply done to create a kind of ‘graphic’ and ‘contemporary’ look.

Homemade Mix and…. Mice?…

So I recently attended a job interview where my ‘twist’ to the usually mundane interview outfit was some funky, coral orange pumps. I also thought it would be a nice idea to match my nails for a bigger punch in the face of colour. Unfortunately, out of all the polishes I have I couldn’t find a colour to match – they were either too red or too orange. Since it was super important that the shade truly did match, I decided to mash two polishes together to get the perfect blend and actually what a gorgeous colour it was!

After returning home from the interview, I’d had enough of plain nails. I’m sorry, but they are just SO boring. With it being spring/Easter I thought I’d go for rabbits, but they turned out more like mice… Embarrassingly enough I feel like these could have been painted by my younger self, years ago whilst in my first year of nail artistry with crude tools and an unsteady hand. They are a major flop – messy and out of control. I mean look at the poor things whiskers, they’re everywhere! Those poor bunnies what was I thinking…

Fluffy Chick…

So it’s almost Easter and I’ve not painted anything Easter related yet! The best I could come up with was this fluffy chick. I used some ‘cotton candy’ flock powder, and then painted on top. Painting the chick was the trickiest part as the polish was soaked up quite quickly and seemed to leak a little through the fibers. I think he turned out okay though!

Easter Bunny…

So here’s my second (and final) Easter design! I couldn’t resist painting a rabbit as I’ve seen so many on other peoples nails. We’ve always celebrated Easter but not in a religious way – I’m afraid it was about the chocolate, the Easter egg hunt, painting eggs and rolling them down a hill sort of thing.

(P.S I also recently read up about the Pagan roots of Easter too, it was very interesting so if you don’t already know about it I recommend you give it a read – if it’s not against your beleives, etc.)

Hoppy Easter…

So everyone knows I love a cheesy pun, sorry. This rabbit wasn’t hand painted – it was actually stamped off of a Born Pretty Store plate which you can find here. I’m starting to really enjoy stamping! I don’t think it will ever be my ‘thing’ though but I can still dabble in it right?

I feel that the yellow should have been more pastel, but I didn’t have such a shade, I think it’s a little over bearing and distracting. Even white would have worked! Hindsight is such a wonderful thing though.

Easter Eggs…

So it’s almost Easter time. I always seem to paint striped easter eggs, so boring! But here they are anyway. Also I have a new top coat and it was seriously dragging, I tried to do a clean up job with acetone before it set but it’s still kinda noticeable. Never mind… They’re fun and bright and include glitter so they’re bound to cheer everyone up! Happy Easter!

Easter Ombre with Crosses…

I felt these were looking kind of Eastery with the pastel colours and dots. Sorry for yet another gradient, I just can’t get enough of them!

Usually I don’t attempt to replicate a design to my left hand, with me being left handed but today I felt brave. I think I managed to pull it off, almost….
