So this is the design that I don’t want to take off! It took a fair while, but I think it was worth it as in my opinion it turned out well. This was in response to day 23 of Froekenfilt’s Dinovember ‘Skulls and Bones’.
I created it by layering up UV gel polish, I’ve seen narmai do it loads so knew that in theory is should work. I started with the dino skull and bones, which was just one thick layer of polish which I then cured and painted regular polish on top.
For the dirt I used three coats of UV gel polish, curing each in between, and then painted some regular polish on top. When that was still tacky I took a dotting tool and messed it up a little to create more texture and show that the dirt was turned over.
Even though it feels pretty thick, I don’t actually mind keeping them on. As they’re smooth they don’t catch on anything and because it’s UV cured gel it’s staying on pretty well! Do you like this look or hate it?
So I’ve jumped back to day 5 of ‘Dinovember’, the prompt for which was ‘Sails, spikes and collars’ and I chose to focus on the sail part. I decided I’d use my left hand for them as I already had an awesome design on my right hand (which you’ll see tomorrow) that I wasn’t ready to take off yet.
There wasn’t much to this design, which is why my right hand was able to execute it. All I did was paint some paper with nail varnish, cut out the shape I required and then stuck them down with seche vite!
Obviously these came straight off as they’re made from paper and I need my left hand to do things! They don’t look as cool from front on unfortunately.
So this was a very rushed, poorly executed idea as I didn’t have much time to paint anything today and I also just wasn’t in the mood for it. It is fun though and the cogs, gears and watch mechanisms are all pretty cute ae? (Unfortunately they came straight off after the photos!)
So I’m not being very successful at keeping up with Froekenfilts Dinovember challenge but I am doing my best at trying to do some! Day 9’s prompt was ‘Pterosaurs’ and I know that was like a week ago already, but by the time I upload the pictures, select a good one, life happens, work, etc it can sometimes be that long between painting and posting. I’m sure bloggers and non-bloggers alike can understand this!
I thought this design was quite fun as you have to be kind of ‘in the know’. The normal onlooker may just presume that they’re badly painted birds or strange bats even, but if you happen to be a dino nerd you’re hopefully seeing pteranodon in flight!
So I’m continuing on with #dinovember, it’s day 2 (in my world anyway) and the prompt is ‘Stegosaurus’. I decided to get quite fun with this one! I painted these with nail paints as I didn’t own quite the right shade of greens.
