Pokemon Theme: Porygon

So I think porygon is pretty darn cute! Anyone else with me on this?

However, poor little Porygon has only ever featured in one episode of the Anime. Outrageous right, but why? Because he was the featured pokemon in an episode that cause lots of kids in Japan to have seizures, oh…

But! What’s super unfair is that it was actually Pikachu using Thunderbolt to blow something up that triggered them, nothing to do with poor little porygon.

I tried to give him a sort of matrix/cyberspace background seeing as he isn’t ‘real’, he is in fact a man-made pokemon consisting of computer code, but unfortunately it was sort of lost in the photograph.

Pokemon Theme: Eeveelutions…

So I took a while to get round to painting these guys because I was kind of dreading it. I didn’t quite know how to link them all and I firstly thought about their evolution stones as backgrounds but then Eevee would be the odd one out.

Inspiration struck today though and I went for a blobicure background – everyone’s the same but different! I ended up actually quite enjoying painting them, but it seriously took me like 2 hours for the four of them. Worth it though!

Pokemon Theme: Ditto…

So I had a few ideas for ditto, such as having him transformed mimicking other pokemon the only tell tale sign being the beady eyes. But then I thought it might be quite fun to make him in to a repeating pattern, and I think it turned out quite well! It’s a totally wearable design, right?

Pokemon Theme: Lapras…

So does anyone else think Lapras has a bit of a sassy bitch face going on? She’s got that whole mean, skeptical look over the shoulder vibe.

Pokemon Theme: Magikarp and Gyarados…

So I’m actually a big fan of Magikarp. Not because he evolves in to super powerful Gyarados, but just because he’s a fish Pokemon! And he’s sorta cute too yeah?

So it’s been a while since I’ve posted any Pokemon nails, please accept my apologies with the appearance of Tauros!

Pokemon Theme: Pinsir…

So this guy featured heavily in my pokemon card deck when I was younger. As in I had four Pinsir cards, which was the maximum of any one card you can have in a deck, and a whole heap load of grass energy to support his moves. There were obviously other cards and I can’t really remember if it was a particularly effective deck, but I still fondly remember Pinsir.

Pokemon Theme: Magmar…

So unfortunately all I can ever see when I look at magmar is a duck on fire, but I did wonder if that’s how it somehow got it’s name – magma+mallard? Who knows, it’s a silly looking pokemon anyway.

Pokemon Theme: Electabuzz…

So surely I wasn’t the only one who thought this guys name was actually ‘Electrabuzz’? I’ve been saying it incorrectly for at least like 16 years, how embarrassing. It just doesn’t sound right now! I also never really noticed it’s feline-like appearance (until reading up about it on Bulbapedia), especially in regards to it’s tiger like pattern on it’s fur. So that’s what I decided to choose as the focus for my nail art – the pelt of an Electabuzz.

Pokemon Theme: Jynx…

So Jynx started off a little controversial as originally she was a ‘curvy’ female figure, with big lips and a black face – it was seen as a little offensive due to the resemblance to a ‘golliwog’ doll. So her face was turned to a purple colour, and that’s the colour I decided to paint with.
